Color card is the embodiment of color existing in nature on a certain material (such as: paper, fabric, plastic, etc.). It is used for color selection, comparison, and communication. It is a tool to achieve uniform standards within a certain range.
As a textile industry practitioner dealing with colors, you must know these standard color cards!
1. PANTONE
Pantone color card (PANTONE) should be the most popular color card for textile, printing and dyeing practitioners.
Pantone, headquartered in Carlstadt, New Jersey, is an authoritative organization that specializes in the development and research of color and is well-known worldwide. It is also a supplier of color systems. It provides many industries including printing and other related colors such as digital technology, textile, Professional color selection and precise communication language for plastics, architecture and interior design.
Pantone was acquired in 1962 by Lawrence Herbert (Lawrence Herbert), the company's chairman, chairman and chief executive officer. At that time, it was just a small company producing color cards for cosmetics companies. Herbert introduced the first "Pantone Color Matching System" color scale in 1963. At the end of 2007, Pantone was acquired by X-rite, another color service provider, for USD 180 million.

2. CNCSCOLOR
CNCS color card: Chinese national standard color card.
Since 2001, China Textile Information Center has undertaken the "China Applied Color Research Project" of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and established the CNCS color system. After that, extensive color research was conducted, and color information was collected through the trend research department of the center, the China Fashion Color Association, foreign partners, buyers, designers, etc., and market research was carried out. After several years of hard work, the first version of the color system was developed and the materials and processes used were determined.
CNCSCOLOR's 7-digit number, the first 3 digits are hue, the middle 2 digits are lightness, and the last 2 digits are chroma.
Hue
Hue is divided into 160 grades, and its label range is 001-160. The hue is arranged in a sequence of colors from red to yellow, green, blue, and purple in a counterclockwise direction, one after the other on a hue circle. The CNCS hue ring is shown in Figure 1.
Brightness (Value)
There are 99 brightness levels between ideal black and ideal white. The lightness labels are arranged in order from 01 to 99, from small to large (that is, from dark to light).
