Mar 23, 2022
In order to accurately distinguish the color of different fabrics, the textile industry will make a special color card for color comparison.
The color card is the embodiment of the color existing in nature on a certain material, which can help designers to select and compare colors, so as to facilitate the color communication between manufacturers and customers, and is a tool to achieve uniform color standards. Of course, the color card standards applied in different countries and regions and different industries are not consistent. If you are a worker in the textile industry, you need to understand and master the following textile color cards.
1. Pantone color card
Pantone color card (PANTONE) color card is an international standard color card. Chinese is commonly known as Pantone. The application range of this color card covers printing, textile, plastic, drawing, digital technology, and other fields. It is one of the more commonly used color standards for communicating color information today. The color card dedicated to the textile industry is the PANTONE TX card, which is divided into PANTONE TPG (paper card) and PANTONE TCX (cotton card). The PANTONE C card and U card are also used more in the printing industry. 2. CNCS color card
Since 2001, China Textile Information Center has undertaken the "China Applied Color Research Project" of the Ministry of Science and Technology and established the CNCS color system. After that, color research was carried out extensively, and color information was collected through the trend research department of the center, China Fashion Color Association, foreign partners, buyers, designers, etc., and market research was carried out. After several years of hard work, the first version of the color system was developed, and the materials and processes used were determined. The 7-digit number of the CNCS color card, the first 3 digits are hue, the middle 2 digits are light, and the last 2 digits are chroma.
3. RAL color card
RAL refers to the German Raul color card, which is mainly the European color card standard and is widely used internationally. This color card is widely used in coatings, paints, plastics, and other industries. A total of 213 colors in the RAL classic series, of which 188 are body colors, 2 are mica iron, 5 bright colors, and 15 pearlescent colors, each color in this classic series has a certain meaning and is not just a popular trend.
To put it simply, the RAL color card is a color reference standard. It is the embodiment of a certain color in nature on the drawing card tool. Designers can choose the color according to the color card, and then hand it over to the manufacturing department for production. Through a unified reference standard, color selection, comparison, and communication can be realized. At present, there are many brands of color cards, RAL color card is only one of the more commonly used ones, and there are many models under the RAL color card brand, and users need to pay attention to distinguish them when using them.
4. Munsell color card
This color card is named after the American colorist Munsell. The Munsell color system has been repeatedly revised and has become one of the recognized standard color systems in the color industry.
5. NCS color card
NCS research began in 1611 and has now become a national inspection standard in Sweden, Norway, Spain, and other countries. It is a very widely used color system in Europe. The NCS color chart can identify the basic characteristics of the color by color numbers, such as blackness, chroma, whiteness, and hue. The NCS color card number depicts the visual characteristics of the color and has nothing to do with the pigment formula and optical parameters.
